Sonning Golf Club

Thursday 25th July 2019

Sonning Golf Club lies in the heart of Berkshire on the A4 between Maidenhead and Reading. The course was designed and opened for play in 1911 by J H Taylor who won The Open Championship five times.

The course measures 6,366 yards and has a par and standard scratch

of 70. The course is easy to walk with tree-lined fairways and is fondly remembered by all who play it. Sonning plays longer than its yardage due to the elevations of several greens and fairways and although originally a heath land course, there is now an abundance of mature trees and shrubs all around the course. The greens are true and fast, and have many testing swales and idiosyncrasies.
