Valderrama, The Augusta of Europe
Tuesday 8th - Friday 11th October 2019
Valderrama is a tough tour course that plots its way through the Sotogrande hills and in between tightly clustered umbrella pines. Famous for the 1997 Ryder Cup and numerous Volvo Masters tournaments. Having been fortunate enough to play this delightful course on three occasions, Mark McGeehan can say with confidence that this place is seriously impressive and special.
From the minute you arrive at Valderrama you feel very privileged, the iconic clubhouse and practice ground set the scene beautifully before enjoying the first tee shot. The long tee box, narrow and straight sets the theme for what is a marvel of a golf course, precision shots are required as placement and course management are everything around the demanding championship course.
Every hole is memorable and with challenging par 3’s surrounded and guarded by large contoured bunkering, Par 4’s that ask every question of your game and par 5’s that entice the longer hitter in attempting to take on the green in two over lakes, Valderamma is a must play course and to cherish.
After the game you will enjoy the exclusive member's lounge and dining experience whilst enjoying the museum of the legacy that is Seve.
