Royal Blackheath

Blackheath has been beautifully landscaped and planted with a variety

of stunning trees. It’s a welcome oasis hidden away from the hustle and

bustle of the busy capital.

The course was originally the Eltham Golf Club, founded in 1892. The opinions of Tom Dunn and Peter Paxton, two leading professionals of the time,

were sought for the design, and in the end Dunn’s advice was followed.

When play on Blackheath was no longer practical, the two clubsmerged

in 1923 and took on the name of Royal Blackheath, but played exclusively

on the course of Eltham.

Blackwell

Blackwell Golf Club was formed in 1893 with a nine hole course on part of

Lord Hewell Estate. It was extended to eighteen holes in 1923. The Course measures 6260 yards with a par of 70.

Blackwell is a club where golfers will find everything which is traditional to the history of the game. Indeed, the club’s values are based on and dedicated to, the ideals which first inspired thegame of golf - a fair but demanding test of skill and intelligence. Both halves have a tough finish. The pond at the 9th

has to be carried some 200 Yards from the back Tee in order to hit this

green - anything less than a perfect strike will have a watery grave.

over a very enjoyable experience for golfers of all abilities, with marvellous

Moortown

Moortown Golf Club was formed in 1909 and the present clubhouse was opened in 1915 and by the mid – 1920s the course assumed the layout,

which was to exist without major alterations for over sixty years.

Even in those early days Moortowns popularity among professionsals was growing through Yorkshire Evening News Professional Tournament, but it

was the staging of The Ryder Cup in 1929 which focused the attention of international media on the club.

There is no doubt that this event was a major factor in establishing Moortown’s world-wide repuation as a championship golf course together with the course design of Dr Alister MacKenzie.

Sherwood Forest

A full eighteen hole true Championship Course of 6,835 yards (par 70) awaits you with none of the modern water hazards but ninety four bunkers of local sand and long carries over punishing swathes of heather.

a general rule we are renowned for our 'most excellent' greens and a long, demanding turn for home. Very rarely will your ‘second half’ score be better than the first.

The course record was lowered to 64 in 2006 by eighteen year old Darren Wright of Rowlands Castle, Hampshire, when triumphant in the Carris Trophy (English Boys Amateur Stroke Play Championships).

Sonning

Sonning Golf Club lies in the heart of Berkshire on the A4 between Maidenhead and Reading. The course was designed and opened for play in 1911 by J H Taylor who won The Open Championship five times.

The course measures 6,366 yards and has a par and standard scratch of 70. The course is easy to walk with tree-lined fairways and is fondly remembered by all who play it. Sonning plays longer than its yardage due to the elevations of several greens and fairways and although originally a heath land course,
there is now an abundance of mature trees and shrubs all around the course. The greens are true and fast, and have many testing swales and idiosyncrasies.
